STEERING AND SUSPENSION

Crucial for both safety and performance, the steering and suspension systems of your vehicle require regular check-ups, ideally in conjunction with a wheel alignment service. These systems work hand in hand to provide control and stability for your car, absorbing shocks from the road and translating your steering input accurately.

WHAT IS IT?

The suspension system is the vital link between your vehicle’s wheels and its frame or unibody, ensuring a comfortable ride by mitigating road imperfections. Meanwhile, the steering system translates your steering wheel movements into precise directional control for your vehicle.

TYPICAL WEAR AND TEAR

With time and use, steering and suspension components naturally wear out and need replacement. Regular inspections are key to maintaining a safe and reliable vehicle, considering various factors such as driving habits, road conditions, and the type of maintenance your car receives.

SYMPTOMS

Understanding the signs of potential steering and suspension issues is paramount to your safety on the road. Wheel alignment sometimes referred to as breaking, or tracking is part of standard automobile maintenance that consists of adjusting the angles of wheels to the car manufacturer specifications. The purpose of these adjustments is to reduce tire wear and to ensure that vehicle travel is straight and true (without “pulling” to one side). Alignment angles can also be altered beyond the maker’s specifications to obtain a specific handling characteristic. Motorsport and off-road applications may call for angles to be adjusted well beyond normal, for a variety of reasons.
